Itinerary
1 / Departure from Manila
We aim to leave at 5 am during the week before rush hour. In the weekends we suggest to leave even earlier at 3 am avoiding the climb becomes busy with other hikers especially on the last part of the trail where wooden stairs and ropes are used and you cannot pass other hikers. Of course if we leave early we also avoid partly the heat around noon time.
2 / Journey to Barangay Cuyambay
After 1.5 hours we already reach Marikina City where it starts to become hilly and after Marikina the landscape gradually becomes more mountainous with great views. At Barangay Cuyambay reachable by half cemented small road at the end of our trip we have to register and get our guide for the day.
3 / Trek Options
You have 2 combinations to choose from:
- Nagpatong rock/Masungi trek 3-4 hours depending on fitness and photo stops
- Nagpatong rock/small Tongtong waterfalls trek 2-3 hours.
4 / Lunch at Pico de Pino
After you come back and 20 min drive we will take our lunch (own account) at Pico de Pino restaurant which has a surprising good variety of local and international dishes.
5 / Optional Daranag Falls Visit
After our well deserved lunch we can pass by underway to Manila the Daranag falls (PHP 75.00 entry fees, own account) which are nice and good for a refreshing swim. The falls are located only 10 min drive from the highway and 30 min from Pico de Loro restaurant. The scenery is local with cabana for rent for lunch/dinner. On very busy days, weekends and holidays you might want to avoid swimming and even visiting these falls. It's less busy at the next falls, 5 min walking plus PHP 100.00 extra fee and therefore better for swimming but the falls are not so spectacular.

We offer this sidetrip as an option as these falls might not be of everybody's interest and/or you already might be too tired and want to go back straight to your hotel.
6 / Return to Manila
Going back to the hotel in Makati/Pasay/Ermita can take up to 3.5 hours as the traffic cannot be avoided anymore.
Discover Nagtapong Rock, a majestic 560-meter-high formation nestled in Baranguy Cuyambay, Tanay, Rizal, just a 2-2.5-hour drive from Malate, Manila. Despite its proximity to Manila, this hidden gem remains a local favorite, yet undiscovered by international travel agencies, offering a unique and exclusive experience for adventurous foreign tourists.
